Our Interdependence on Independence Day & Everyday

In Celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence lets also remember how interdependent we are upon each other.   Our country’s independence from a foreign dictator could have never been accomplished without the unity of those fighting for that independence.    They were interdependent upon each other.

Thomas Paine famously wrote in “The American Crisis” pamphlet during the American Revolutionary War, “These are times that try men’s (and women’s) souls.”

Some say we are in a crucible in our nation.   If so, how will we as individuals, and how as a nation will we respond.

First, what is a crucible?  It’s a container where metals are melted, or subjected to very high temperatures.  In a human sense, some would call it a fiery trial, or the refiner’s fire where metal is tested.  A crucible, or fiery trial can be brief or prolonged.   It can produce something better, or something worse.  The result of the refiner’s fire, often depends on the metal being tested.

Simply put, a crucible is a place or situation that forces people to change or make difficult decisions; a place or situation where different elements interact to produce something new.

Scottish historian and award-winning author makes a very good point to consider, “The point needs to be made that all individuals ground their view of the world within some conception of moral authority.  Not only those who are (religious) in a traditional sense, but also those who claim to have no (religious) faith at all, base their views of the world in unprovable assumptions and ‘being’ and ‘knowledge’.”

Hunter goes on to say, “Within communities that hold orthodox views, moral authority arises from a common commitment to transcendence, by which I mean a dynamic reality that is independent of, prior to, and more powerful than [...]

Reset Button – Words Lift Up & Words Tear Down – Lead in LOVE

Come together, right now….we need to agree to disagree in some cases.  At the end of the day, we need to consider the children of the future.   Protecting them and their innocence.

We must lead in LOVE.

LifeVictory is thematic – The theme LEADS in LOVE, everything else is elementary and follows.

WORDS fitly spoken can heal…it is time to heal.

Join me in sharing words that heal.

Peace,

Value Virtuous Vision

It is said that without a vision people perish!   I think that requires looking outside of ourselves, to something, or Someone far greater than ourselves.   Vision comes from a greater purpose firmly grounded and rooted in who we are and what we were created to be in the Image of God.  A vision, mission and purpose of our greatest and highest contribution to the world around us.   A vision to be a world changer, not just to suit ourselves, but to Be a World Changer Created in the Image of God.   That’s a vision outside of ourselves.  Thinking outside the box.

A vision that builds on virtue, a pursuit of excellence.  A form of bravery, strength, moral excellence and valor out of a sincere love for God, distinguised from religion.

Because, we value and give importance to the things God Values.

We live in a world of great contrasts, to put it mildly.

Vision has a lot to do with faith.  But faith in what, or shall I say who?  We put a lot of faith and hope in a lot of people and things.   People and things that don’t bring us to a better place.   Not that they are not valuable, but we need to ask ourselves is this person or thing in our life helping us build on and greater vision and purpose for our lives.

Vision without God is void of clear purpose and clarity.   It’s like seeing life with the glass half empty instead of half full.  A life full of abundance, love, possibilities, and hope for a brighter future despite what we see in front of us.  Without vision we lose hope, which leads me back full circle to my first statement….without a vision people perish.

If you are looking for vision, hope, purpose, a sense of knowing your true God given value and purpose (not matter what the world is telling you – [...]

Faith, Forgiveness & Freedom are April’s theme…

Wow!  What a month so far!!

I love this month’s theme….FAITH, FORGIVENESS & FREEDOM!

And has this ever been a month that emphasizes all three quite profoundly!

This past Friday I returned from an 8 day whirlwind trip to our nation’s Capitol, Washington, D.C.

I wasn’t there for sightseeing, although I did spend a little time at The Lincoln Memorial and UnitedCry 2016 between Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument (reaching high into the sky) and a treat to get to visit, David’s Tent in the middle of the National Mall.

My whole trip was an incredible step of FAITH!!  Many steps of faith led me down this path.  Stepping out in faith, overcoming fear!

God set a fire in my belly for social justice and righteousness!

What is faith anyway?  Faith is believing in something you don’t see yet.   Believing for something greater than yourself.   Believing in a vision that you just know deep down in your knower!  A drive, a passion coupled with purpose!

Having the faith to forgive brings with it a freedom and clarity that gives you tremendous ability to overcome fear and doubt.   It’s one of those supernatural principles that isn’t easily explained.   It just is!  Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!

The just shall live by faith, not by sight.

Pure heart, pure mind, pure soul are a path to faithful freedom.   Not just faith in faith, but faith in The One who created you, knows you best and all of the amazing things you are capable of.

Are you struggling with your faith?  Are you struggling to forgive someone, perhaps even struggling to forgive yourself?   Do you want to finally experience the freedom that just seems so elusive?

All of this is possible!  Faith, Forgiveness & Freedom can ALL be yours!  Let’s talk!

If you want to dig deeper into your purpose, God’s wonderful plan for your life just fill out the information [...]

Thankfulness in the midst of hardship

How hard is that?

Hardship is part of life for sure. But do we let the hardship harden our hearts, make us cynical, sarcastic and angry?

OR, do we let it grow our appreciation for the lessons learned, count our blessings, grow in character and resilience?

A few years back I did some study of centenarians, 100 years old +, two things they had in common was an ability to take life’s ups and downs, the good, the bad and the ugly, in stride. And the faith to believe that hardships do pass and to find humor wherever possible. And, by all means counting their blessings.

I wanna be like that!

Resilience and Thankfulness play such and important role in our lives and making lemonade out of life’s lemons and yummy cherry pie out of the pits!

Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

Content – Contented – Contentment

Been thinking a lot about contentment lately. And, interrelated words, including contention, the opposite of contentment.

I implore a greater understanding and mindset of contentment.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

BE Cheerful. In the midst of any circumstance, as much as is possible.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Gratitude and Satisfaction with where you are in the here and now, is the present.

“All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.”
Proverbs 15:15

Abundance flows out of a cheerful heart.

“A heart at peace gives LIFE to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30

So please, consider this, above all else, GUARD YOUR HEART. [...]

Perfect Character, Perfect Bliss

“These seven descriptions make up a perfect character, and the seven blessings appended when combined constitute perfect bliss.”

“The whole seven rise one above another like the steps of a ladder of light, and the blessings appropriate to each grow out of the virtues described.”

“At the close of the seven BEatitudes of character comes an eighth and double benediction bestowed on the persecuted condition as a result of holiness. The whole makeup a celestial octave of benediction.”
– C. H. Spurgeon

I love the richness and depth of Spurgeon’s writings!

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount was one of Jesus’ first teachings to the masses. In Matthew 5…Blessed are the poor in spirit; for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. (The first step of the ladder is low, and the more readily reached. Those who know their spiritual poverty are the only ones who by faith can lay hold on the true riches of grace.)

Blessed are they that mourn: for they will be comforted. (To their sense of need is now added holy sorrow for sin; this leads them to Jesus, [...]

3 words are rattling around (well actual

3 words are rattling around (well actually more!) but 3 that are intertwined and relevant in a number of conversations I have had with various people the last couple of weeks…actually ever since Independence Day. Independence…Interdependence…Codependence.
Let’s start with defining the core word in each…DEPENDENCE. Just fyi, I will be using the American Dictionary of the English Language – Noah Webster 1828. “Reliance; confidence; trust; a resting on. A state of being subject to the will of an intelligent cause, power or operation. Connection by which one thing is sustained by another, in its place, operations, or is affected by it. Inability to sustain itself without the aid of.”
Okay….so foundationally there we are. Now, INDEPENDENCE…
“A state in which a person does not rely on others for subsistence; ability to support one’s self. A state of being not dependent; complete exemption from control, or the power of others. A state of mind in which a person acts without bias or influence from others.”
Interestingly enough, the words INTERDEPENDENCE and CODEPENDENCE were not in the 1828 Noah Webster’s Dictionary.
So, I went to my iPhone app dictionary.
Interdependence…”of two or more people or things dependent on each other.”
Codependence…”excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically a partner who requires support due to an illness or addiction.”
It has been interesting how many times these words have come up in random conversations this month. I think partially because we just celebrated America’s Independence Day on July 4th.
But, in the greater scope of things that fact that we are created for relationship. We may have temperaments that are more [...]

VISION grounded in FAITH and God’s Poin
