Keeping sanity……L.I.F.E.V.I.C.T.O.R.Y. – January, a month of new beginnings

I’m excited for 2016!  Not necessarily that 2015 was so bad at all.   2015 was pretty awesome and eventful – new doors were opened giving me greater focus.   Dreams and goals I had set, written down and envisioned with a passion were coming to fruition.   Lesson learned?   Writing down your goals and staying focused on them, being willing to be flexible, not too rigid….you really can accomplish what you set your mind and resources to.

When you have a passion, vision and purpose in life you live deliberately moving in that direction.

L.I.F.E.V.I.C.T.O.R.Y. is an example of a vision planted inside my spirit back in 2003 after going through a transformational healing journey after a long and winding road of 23 years of tremendous confusion and turmoil after an abortion as a young woman.   I won’t go into that here but the past 13 years have been a journey of ongoing recovery, self awareness, self acceptance and transformation.

Over the course of this year each month on my blog I will focus on each of the letters of the LifeVictory theme which is ever expanding!   But as a basic foundation….Love, Laughter & Liberty – Identity In The Image of God – Faith, Forgiveness & Freedom – Ecourage, Enlighten & Empower – Vision, Virtue & Value Values – Interdependence, Integrity & Intertwined – Character, Creativity, Courage & Contentment – Truth, Thankfulness, Trust – Others Focused & Obedient to God – Righteousness, Resilience, Relationships & Rest – Young at Heart & Yielded

December…..Young at Heart & Yielded

I love when a new month comes around at LifeVictory Coaching, I get to introduce a new principle 🙂  December with Christmas right around the corner is a great time to focus on being Young at Heart & Yielded!  One seems like a whole lot more fun than the other for sure!

We’ll touch on what seems not so fun, yet important life principle, then play around with being Young at Heart!  

Yielded in the sense we are surrendered to the good plans and purposes of our amazing and loving Creator, Papa God.  To comply and cooperate with Papa God, instead of struggle and fight, yields much greater gain!  

To sit, ponder and pause in that reality leads me into how important being Young at Heart is on the journey towards being yielded and surrendered.  In contrast, we become cynical, jaded, angry, sarcastic, bitter, like Ebenezer Scrooge, in the classic Christmas Carol story by Charles Dickens.

Bah! Humbug!  He cried.

He had allowed his heart to grow cold.   Fun and kindness were far from him.   Grumpy was his middle name!  I don’t think anyone really sets out in life to be that way but over time, if we are not careful to guard our heart.  Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do. (Proverbs 4:23)

In ALL honesty, this challenges me!

Life gets weighty!

Let not your heart be troubled, Jesus said.  He also said Seek First the Kingdom of God, Live for Him and He will give you all you need from day to day.

As we are more and more yielded, more and more pure in heart, Young at Heart, God will produce more and more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self-control.  

These are truly just some of the amazing benefits of being Yielded to God which in turn makes us more and more Young at Heart towards the things that are important.

Ok, enough!…of your political rhetoric President Obama and Cecile Richards

For you to use your position to EXPLOIT, once ago, and ATTACK, innocent people for your own political gain in the wake of the most recent TRAGEDY in Colorado Springs!  Three people died, or did you miss that memo?

The man who did this was NOT PRO-LIFE, if he had been TRULY PRO-LIFE, he could have and would have NEVER done such a thing.

You see, President Obama and Cecile Richards, TRUE PRO-LIFERS offer hope, not false hope and falsehoods.   TRUE PRO-LIFERS believe that ALL human beings have value, NOT just the ones you choose to value or who can advance your political agenda and parrot your rhetoric and talking points.

LET’S GET REAL!

This tragic event took place in a location that BREEDS violence against women and children.   The spiritual atmosphere is death and violence, which breeds more death and violence!  Think about it?!

This tragic event took place at a legal abortion clinic – Planned Parenthood.  Planned Parenthood would like to add the words “safe” in their rhetoric.   However, the latest best available science does not prove that, but instead contests it.   They claim to care about women’s healthcare, yet continue to ignore the latest and best available science and worldwide research.

The most recently published reference guide, that should be used as a textbook, Complications – Abortions Impact on Women, compiles 650+ worldwide studies of the physical and psychological HARM of abortion on women.

This is NOT a political debate, it is a HUMAN LIFE issue, a broad scope women’s healthcare issue.

The latest and best available science is calling out Planned Parenthood, President Obama – drawing a line in the sand.   Stop the political rhetoric and start speaking the truth!   Stop lying [...]

A Time for Resilience….

Are there times when you feel like everything and everyone is against you?

Always remember GOD is for you!  I am for you!

The seasons of life come and go.   There are life lessons to learn.   Surrounding yourself with wise counsel is an important choice you make.   Who are the people you have in your inner circle?   Are they encouraging you or are they trying to keep you down.  Not everyone should be in your inner circle.

Resilience is about having the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, a toughness to persevere.  To continue on a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.   Success isn’t always about the destination though, there is so much you can gain in the journey.

Hang in there!  Never give up, never give up, NEVER GIVE UP!  Be Resilient!

Resilience…..another word for Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Resilience is your ability to bounce back in the midst of adversity and overcome the hurdles of life.  It measures your aptitude for social and emotional interactions and skills that are critical for life success.

Emotional and relational intelligence (ERQ) is being aware of, recognize and understand our own emotions – taking ownership of our own emotions.  As well as those of others around us, and being able to constructively manage our own emotions and how they relate to the relationships around us.

Did you know that ERQ has been found to be more important in the scope of life success than someone’s IQ?

I don’t know about you but that gives me hope.   You are born with your IQ, but your ERQ can be improved upon and changed – a skill to build upon.   That’s cool!

Self-Awareness (Me) is the first key – Emotional Self-Awareness, Emotional Expression, Accurate Self-Assessment build towards Self-Confidence.

Self-Management (I) is second – Emotional Self Control, Anger Management and Self-Responsible – in other words taking responsibility.

Relational Awareness (Us) is third – Relational Awareness has to do with Empathy towards others.  Noticing that someone is in pain.  Being present.  Knowing what “not” to say.  Recognizing emotions in others.

When it comes to Empathy, the secret is listening, not talking.   Learning to be a good listener builds your empathy towards others.

Relational Management (We) is fourth – It encompasses 7 simple steps of ERQ empowerment:

#1 – Define the issue:  Listen & Seek Understanding (Seek First to Understand before being Understood)

#2 – Decide how important the issue is?

Flipping the calendar to June…

June 1st, 2015…a day that will never come around again!

How do you view and value your days?

Flipping the month of my wall calendars around my house has almost become ceremonial.  The passing of one month in my life history book and pressing on into another.

From May flowers to June brings tulips, lilies, roses and fills children’s hands with posies! 

And here at LifeVictory Coaching we will focus on VISION, VIRTUE & VALUES!  

My office calendar on the wall for June, quoted “be the change you want to see in the world”.  

My VISION is to BE THE CHANGE GOD WANTS TO SEE IN THE WORLD!   Based on VIRTUOUS VALUES!  Because VALUES MATTER!  

The things we focus on are reproduced in our lives.

So I want to leave you with some food for thought…in Proverbs 29:18 – “Without a vision people perish”.  Sounds pretty important then.  Are you seeking God for fresh vision? 

And then there’s virtue…a bit unused in our culture today.  I love what this word enlightens us to!

VIRTUE…strength…bravery…valor…moral goodness…moral excellence…constitutes value and merit…excellence. 

VALUES…to rate at high esteem…hold in respect…to consider with respect of importance. 

I encourage you to write these three words on a piece of paper and focus on what they mean to you in June and how you will merge them into the focus of your life.

VISION.    VIRTUE.    VALUES.

Today is Monday, March 2nd 2015 

…you may ask why I am making a point of it at all.  Why is today significant?  Is today just another day to you? Or does today, and every day have mean and purpose for you?  Do you have a clear sense of your identity or do you not have the foggiest notion about your triune identity & purpose on the planet.  The world will try to define and label you and pretty soon you don’t know who in the world you are!Depending on where you are in this life continuum.  No matter what your starting point today…you have the same basic human choice to begin today to think of yourself in the same loving way your Creator God, Papa God, sees you.  Wonderful. Beautiful. Made in His Image. Creative in your own YOUnique way. Intelligent in your own YOUnique way. Designed in your own YOUnique God-inspired triune way. Don’t let the world label you … Let YOUR Creator God! Peace…

L O V E 

Love springs!

Spring has sprung in my hometown….

Although it’s still only February in Oregon, this is what you will see in my little corner of the state.

The beauty of Spring is so refreshing and awe inspiring!

Does the LOVE in your LIFE feel the same way?

I’m struck in my scripture study this morning by a revelatory truth…My LOVE for others and myself is directly impacted by my LOVE for God and His ways.  Loving God matters more than being loved.  

Being in triune unity in spirit and in truth ushers in the presence and fullness of God’s LOVE.   

As a created being, made in the image of God, we are also triune in our very nature.  Being in unity with the Trinity, God, three in one, Spirit-Soul-Body with our sameness in Him we are able to operate in oneness of LOVE in Him and with Him.  

I invite YOU to pause…stop in your tracks…let that reality sink into your thoughts.

Thoughts like that can transform your life.

Let it resonate.  Let it take hold.  Let it take root in the soil of your soul.  Consider the daffodils in the picture, how deeply rooted they are.

I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your heart as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous LOVE.                    – Ephesians 3:17

Young At Heart – Merry Christmas to all, the heart of Christmas is LOVE!

BEing Young In Heart…having a pure, loving, innocent child-like view of life…is it even possible?

We all as children of God come into this world created in His image pure and innocent…then over time we become influenced by the world around us and lose that childlike innocence.

Is there a point where you can press the reset button?

I think we can…to look at the heart being the seat of our soul – our mind, will and emotions, where choices are made either on a conscious or subconscious level. Those choices are at the core of our conscience.

Remember the love and heart of Christmas – innocence of a child…young at heart, the sparkle and joy of a child on Christmas morning. The freshness of dreaming new dreams!!

Thankfulness in the midst of hardship

How hard is that?

Hardship is part of life for sure. But do we let the hardship harden our hearts, make us cynical, sarcastic and angry?

OR, do we let it grow our appreciation for the lessons learned, count our blessings, grow in character and resilience?

A few years back I did some study of centenarians, 100 years old +, two things they had in common was an ability to take life’s ups and downs, the good, the bad and the ugly, in stride. And the faith to believe that hardships do pass and to find humor wherever possible. And, by all means counting their blessings.

I wanna be like that!

Resilience and Thankfulness play such and important role in our lives and making lemonade out of life’s lemons and yummy cherry pie out of the pits!
